RUBEN S. SABALA
June 20, 1958 - Apr. 8, 2011
Ruben Sabala, 52, of Brawley passed away Friday, April 8 in his home after a battle with cancer.
He was born June 20, 1958 in Brawley. Ruben was a truck driver for 40 years and was a founder of the Brown Society Car Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and within the last few years he enjoyed riding his Harley. His sense of humor and the kindness in his heart will be missed by all who came in contact with him.
Visitation will take place Thursday, April 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Frye Chapel in Brawley with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass will commence at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley with Father Eddie Ruiz officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Sr. and Frances Sabala; and uncle, Joe Sabala.
Ruben is survived by his sons, Ruben Jr. and Steve Sabala, both of Brawley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph Jr. and Rita Sabala, Albert and Sharon Sabala, Richard and Sylvia Sabala, all of Brawley, CA and Ernie and Marissa Sabala of Woodland, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Tony Araujo of Brawley, CA; 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

It saddens me that one of my favorite Uncle's has left us.. All his catchy lil phrases like "Sunava" I will never forget. Your gonna be missed Unc.... I know you will watch over all of us and I'm so glad you and my tia got to talk before you went. I love you Unc and you will always be in my heart..

The passing of Ruben saddens me greatly. I first met Ruben and his brothers while hauling "mators" in Woodland. It was great to meet someone else from the valley. We became good friends hanging out back in the day. He will be greatly missed. Tell Rudy hello for me while you truck for the Lord.
