VERA OSWALT Obituary
1928 - 2024
Vera Oswalt, a remarkable woman whose grace, kindness, and unwavering support touched the lives of many, passed away on June 22, 2024, at the age of 96. Born on August 22, 1928, in El Centro, CA, Vera was the beloved daughter of Vera and Russell Rogers.
After graduating from Central Union High School in 1945, Vera embarked on a fulfilling journey. Her first job as a switchboard operator alongside her sister, Betty, for Ma Bell (One Ringy Dingy, Two Ringy Dingy), promoted her educational and social attributes into the fashion industry which allowed her to showcase not only her professional skills but also her natural beauty and poise. She became a sought-after model for local boutiques, designer wear, and magazine advertisements.
In 1946, Vera met Allen E. Oswalt (Gene), the love of her life. They married in 1948 and went on to raise four children: Kenneth, Roger, Kristy, and Randy. Vera's dedication to motherhood was unwavering. She supported her family through every passion and challenge, becoming the bedrock of their lives. Her thoughtful gestures, impeccable timing, and unwavering encouragement made her an exceptional confidante.
Whether cheering on her husband's golf championships, supporting Ken's boating and fishing pursuits, celebrating Roger's produce accomplishments, or sharing Kristy's love for horses and travel and standing by Rand through life's journey, Vera was there with her steadfast support.
Vera's spiritual faith was equally profound. For over 50 years, she served on the board and committee for Centers of Spiritual Living in San Diego, CA. Her kindness extended beyond her home she actively worked to improve the lives of others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; first son, Kenneth; sister, BettyJo; niece, Valerie; aunts, Carmen, Lois, and Dorothy, Uncle Roy; and lifelong friends, Betty Flo, Donnie, Helen, and Marjorie. Vera leaves behind a legacy of love. She is survived by her sons, Roger and Randy; daughter, Kristy; niece, Stephanie; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Vera's life will take place at Tunaman's Memorial on September 6, 2024. Please join us at 10:30 a.m., for a remembrance service before the scattering of ash es a final journey shared with her beloved husband, Gene.

So many childhood memories of my Aunt Bur( my daughter at age 3 didn´t quite get the name Vera) so from that day forward whenever we talked she would say " Hi honey, it´s your Aunt Bur". She was truly a beautiful lady inside and out and is greatly missed by us all. Korky and family
