Charlene McGee Cason

Charlene McGee Cason, 85, passed away on June 13, 2020, surrounded by her family. A native of Jackson, and 1954 graduate of Jackson High School, she has lived in Huntsville, Alabama since 1958.

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George R. (Dick) Cason, Jr. (Jackson High School, '52); her father, Charlie Lee McGee; mother, Amanda Rochelle McGee; brother, J. C. McGee; and sister, Dorothy Williams. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Candy and John Burnett, Cindy and Ronnie Gray, Cathy and Joe Hatchett, and Carrie and Scott Johnson; grandchildren, Jennifer Gray Elwell (Jason), Anna Hatchett Luttrell (Josh), Charles Clifford Gray, Mary Hatchett Keith (Joel), Lauren Hatchett Durr (Andy), Samuel Cason Johnson, and Abby Kate Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte, James and Hadley Elwell; Elizabeth and Kellum Keith; and Jeremiah Durr.

Charlene was employed at Thiokol, and by the Huntsville City School System. She had a strong faith, which she passed on to her daughters; she was a fabulous cook and excellent seamstress; and she enjoyed gardening and hummingbird-watching. But her pride and joy was her family, and her passion was making their lives special.

A family graveside service was held in Huntsville. Pallbearers were Charlene's grandsons, grandsons-in-law, and her great-grandson James.
