George Kougias Obituary

Funeral Mass for George Christopher Kougias Colonel USAF Retired 81 will be said at 10:00 a.m. Saturday October 11 2003 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church with Father Jim McCarver officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kougias died Tuesday October 7 2003 at his residence. He was born in New Bedford MA son of the late Christopher and Pauline Callas Kougias. Mr. Kougias was a U.S. Air Force Veteran with 32 years service. He was a pilot during WWII and spent two years as a P.O.W. in Germany. He was a communicant of Saint Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife Gertrude Coughlin Kougias of Jackson to whom he was married October 14 1943; two daughters Patricia Anne Mike Newton of Aurora CO and Janet Marie David Gallay of Barstow VA; three sons Christopher A. Merrilan Kougias and George Nicholas Cathrine Kougias all of Dallas TX and Phillip Michael Kougias of Alexandria VA; a sister Virginia Reichard of West Lafayette IN; fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers to serve are Barney Crews Bob Brien Robert Coughlin Dr. Mike Powers Tom Coughlin Jim Butler and Victor Buchholz. A Rosary will be said at 5:30 p.m. Friday October 10 2003 with visitation with the family to continue until 8:00 p.m. at the church. Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home 731-424-2424
