Harry Baddour Obituary

Dr. Harry Michael Baddour

A Funeral Mass will be held to celebrate the life of Dr. Harry Michael Baddour, age 60, on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson.

He passed away after a lengthy illness on November 3, surrounded by his wife and family. He was born on July 23, 1952 to Samuel and Margaret Baddour in Brownsville, Tennessee along with his identical twin brother, Larry.

Harry attended and graduated from Haywood High School in 1970. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee Dental School where he obtained his DDS degree. After graduation, he entered an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program at the University of Texas in San Antonio where he met his wife, Beth. Upon completion of his residency, Harry and Beth returned to West Tennessee where Harry established a successful oral surgery practice in Jackson. His compassion and concern for his patients made him a deeply loved and well respected oral surgeon.

Harry loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a loving husband, father and son. Harry's strong devotion to his Catholic faith and to his family guided him each and every day of his life. He was humbled by the gifts that God gave him and generously shared that with St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's School.

He is preceded in death by his father, Sam Baddour of Brownsville, Tennessee.

He is survived by Beth, his loving and devoted wife of 32 years; son, Sam Baddour of Jackson; son, Michael Baddour (wife Katie) of Atlanta; grandson, Hunter Baddour of Atlanta; mother, Margaret Baddour of Jackson; brother, Dr. Larry Baddour (wife Kathye) of Rochester, MN; mother-in-law, Inez Carlock of Jackson; sister-in-law, Nan Bishop of Dallas, TX; cousins, Dr. Mike Cobb (wife Judy) of Jackson and Mitchell Baddour (wife Sharon) of Dallas, TX; dear friends, Phil and Debbie Gomez of Jackson, Natalie and Morgan Gomez of Nashville.

Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson with a Rosary service beginning at 7 p.m.

The family wishes to thank all of the compassionate caregivers that were devoted to Harry and the wonderful nursing staff at Regional Hospital of Jackson.

Memorials can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church; St. Mary's School; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

As Amie noted, 14 years later it's still hard to believe Harry's not among us. Living three states away, one tends to hold on to such fresh memories of his bright countenance. Continued blessings on his well-loved family.

14 years later and this is still so true!

Beth, Sam, & Michael you all have my deepest sympathy. Dr. B will always hold a special place in my heart. He was a Godly man and blessed all of the lives he touched. I felt it a true blessing to be fortunate enough to work with and get to know such a special man. I also felt honored to have the pleasure of getting to know two very special young men and work beside a loving and honorable woman, Beth. I send my love and prayers your way and may God touch and heal your hearts during this time of loss. I loved the way this was written as a "celebration" of life as Dr. B lived a life that we should all feel honored to celebrate!

Heaven is rejoicing as we are grieving. Harry (and Larry) were classmates and always positive leaders - morally, academically, in sports and socially. Their dad, Mr. Sam, was a faithful Presbyterian who brightened the room and encouraged all. Clearly he and Miss Margaret were the best parents raising fine sons. Love to all the family, brother Larry and Miss Margaret.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Baddour's passing. He was a brilliant surgeon and businessman whom I'll forever have nothing but the greatest respect. I'll never forget the fun we always had with all the water gun fights, putting on scary masks and jumping out scaring our co-workers or anything else we ever did at OSA. While he knew when to be serious, he knew when to play, too. Beth, I'm so very sorry. I know how much you love him and he couldn't have had a better partner in this life. Much love and many prayers to all of you.
