I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Perry in 2002 my freshman year at Lane College. He taught one of my religion courses and he also assisted me with writing a letter to Dr. McClure as to why I felt I should be accepted as a student into Lane. Coach Perry was an awesome teacher & mentor and will be greatly missed by all he has influenced over the years. I pray God will continue to cover his entire family during this diffucult time. God Bless.

Perry Family:
I grew up with JL when we all lived in "Mound City". He was friends with my older brother's (The Pearson's). He would come to the house with JC, Larry and other's, they would have a ball, laughing and acting up. I'll always "Cherish the Memories". Praying for the entire family that the Lord will give you All that you stand in need of at this time. May God continue to Bless each of you!

Prayers to the Perry family. If you only knew the impact Coach Perry had on the many lives from his teaching, coaching or supervising. I had the priviledge of being a student of Coach Perry at Sherwood Jr. High in the late 70s. He was the first African American male teacher that I had even though I went to mostly African American Schools up to that time. This was a MAN who was committed to being an educator!I had the opportunity to reconnect years later while he was at Lane and he worked with my wife. My daughter adored him as a child while visiting on campus. I can not say thank you enough for being an example and inspiration to me and many others.
