Services for Mr. James Hoyt Hayes will be held Friday, December 30, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. from the Sanctuary of Northside United Methodist Church, 2571 North Highland Avenue in Jackson, Tennessee. Dr. Don Thrasher will preside. A private interment will follow for his wife, children, and grandchildren only. The Hayes family will receive visitors in the church sanctuary on Thursday, December 29, 2016, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and on Friday, December 30, 2016, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Mr. Hayes' grandsons will serve as his pallbearers. They are Bradley Mayer Hayes, Joshua Michael Hayes, Brian Miller Hayes, Jr., David Kyral Norville, Matthew Tyler Hayes, Harrison Forbes Hayes, and Jonathon Bradford Taylor.

Mr. Hayes was born on February 2, 1930 in Haywood County, Tennessee. He was the son of Samuel Rodner Hayes and Pearl Spurgeon Hayes, now deceased. Mr. Hayes graduated from Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tennessee. In 1948, he married Elizabeth Miller Hayes (Bettye), who survives. Together, he and his wife began their construction, development, and concrete businesses. In the early 1970's, Mr. Hayes moved with his family to Jackson, Tennessee, and continued his contracting and development career until his retirement. Mr. Hayes, passed away at the age of 86, on Sunday, December 25, 2016.

Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his great grandson, Jack Hale Hayes, and his granddaughter, Mollie Lin Lewis.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his three sons, James Hoyt Hayes, Jr., and his wife Kathy; Brian Miller Hayes, and his wife Pam; and Jeffrey Charles Hayes, all of Jackson, Tennessee; and his daughter, Lisa Hayes Lewis, and her husband Jeff, of Lexington, Tennessee.

Mr. Hayes, fondly known as "Pop", was greatly loved by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His surviving grandchildren include Bradley Mayer Hayes, and his wife Melissa; Joshua Michael Hayes, and his wife Betsy; Brian Miller Hayes, Jr., and his wife Annie; Sara Elizabeth Hayes Norville, and her husband David; Matthew Tyler Hayes; Annabeth Heglar Hayes; Harrison Forbes Hayes, and his wife Caroline; Katie Elizabeth Hayes Taylor, and her husband Jon; Paul Hayes Taylor, and his wife Emily; Audra Elaine Taylor Dennison, and her husband Michael; and Lizanne Miller Taylor.

Tyler Dale Hayes, Ava James Hayes, Wilder Rhea Taylor, Elizabeth Claire Hayes, Henry Parker Hayes, Brian Miller Hayes, III, Abbott Michael Hayes, Ansley Jane Norville, Holden Paul Taylor, and Emerson Ruth Taylor are his surviving great grandchildren.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be directed to the church or organization of your choice.
