Trenton, TN - Surrounded by loved ones, Mrs. Jo Young Hall passed peacefully from this life into her eternal home on Thursday, June 4, 2015. A devout Christian known for her gentle nature, Mrs. Hall's life was a testament to her walk with God.

A Celebration of her Christian life will be observed Sunday, June 7, 2015. The family will greet friends and share memories at Shelton Funeral Home in Trenton, TN from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. At 3 p.m., a Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, with longtime friend, Bro. Jim Criswell, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, also in Trenton, TN.

Jo Hall was born in Tigrett, TN on January 9, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Eudora Baker Young and Warner Eugene Young. She was predeceased by her husband of more than sixty years, Dr. James Hall of Trenton; her oldest granddaughter, Melissa Arnold Nichols; and her son-in-law, John Arnold, both of Jackson, TN; a sister, Patty Joy Young of Tigrett, TN; a sister, Elizabeth Young Farmer (Tom) of Summerville, SC; and a brother, Wana Young (Myra) of Madisonville, KY.

Mrs. Hall leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Nancy Claybrook (Huey) of Martin, TN; a daughter, Sandra Arnold (John) of Trenton and Jackson, TN; three sons, Jim Hall (Nancy) of Trenton, TN, Dr. Richard Hall (Debby) of Oak Ridge, TN and Bob Hall (Brenda) of Bartlett, TN. Mrs. Hall's beloved grandchildren include: Greg Hall of Ft. Collins, CO, John Arnold, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Doug Hall of Kailua, HI, Michelle McArthur of Knoxville, TN, Stacey Hall of Nashville, TN, Stephanie Taylor of Atoka, TN, Justin Hall of Charlotte, NC, Susan Hall of Bartlett, TN. Adding much joy to their MomMom's life were her great-grandchildren, Jake Nichols of Jackson, TN, Morgan Hall of Ft. Collins, CO, Andrew McArthur and Davis McArthur of Knoxville, TN, and Mason Hall and Elena Hall of Charlotte, NC.

The family's loss is great, and our sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will be missed immensely.

Also mourning the loss of their friend are devoted caregivers, Ms. Johnella Mosley, Mrs. Shirley Willis, Mrs. Elaine Lowery, Mrs. Doris Graves, Mrs. Evelyn Stafford, Mrs. Betty Elam, and Mrs. Lakeisha Glenn.

Jo Young Hall graduated as Class Valedictorian from Friendship (TN) High School. She attended the University of Tennessee Junior College at Martin where she met James Hall, the football player who was to become her husband. After their two years together at UTJC, Jo attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she earned a degree in Home Economics, while her husband-to-be attended the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis. During her college years, Jo worked at the ASC office in Dyersburg, TN and at the Army Airfield in Halls, TN. Following her college graduation, Jo taught school in Memphis, TN and Trimble, TN until her marriage to James Hall and their move to Trenton, TN.

Jo was an exemplary wife and mother who exuded love, grace, and generosity. Always involved in her children's education and activities, she was President of the local Parent-Teachers Association. She also was the first President of Trenton Woman's Club and served others outside her home, especially through First Baptist Church where she held numerous positions including Sunday School Teacher, GA Leader, WMU President, Pastor Search Committee Member, and Vacation Bible School Director. She loved studying and sharing the word of God and her faith in Him. Her desire always was to bring honor and glory to her Lord in everything she did. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to many countries around the world and was an avid fan of University of Tennessee Athletics, especially football and woman's basketball.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution might want to consider the Dr. and Mrs. James Hall Scholarship Fund at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
