Johnnie Hall Obituary

Johnnie Claiborne "John C." Hall

Mr. Johnnie Claiborne "John C." Hall, 95, of Huntingdon, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at Harmony Hill Assisted Living in Huntingdon.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Huntingdon Church of Christ. Brother Dan Winkler will officiate the services. His younger son Cameron Hall, M.D., will also speak.

Mr. Hall was born July 26, 1918, in Westport, Tennessee, to the late Richard Leroy Hall and Flora Dell (Butler) Hall. He was a retired heating and air conditioning contractor and a sheet metal worker. He and his brother Leroy Hall founded Hall Brothers Sheet Metal Works in Huntingdon in 1946. He was a member of the Huntingdon Church of Christ, having served as an elder for 40 years. He enjoyed preaching at numerous congregations in West Tennessee as a guest speaker for many years while serving as an elder. He served one term as an alderman for the Town of Huntingdon in the early 1970s.

Mr. John C. was well loved by everyone who came in contact with him. He loved telling funny stories and jokes and was very artful in how he related and delivered these tales.

He loved playing golf, and he enjoyed passing on his love for and knowledge of the game to his relatives and friends. He loved traveling to many places across the United States. His passion was the Bible: he taught numerous classes over his entire life as a Christian, and even to the end of his life he was able to quote and recall numerous scriptures.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Hall, who passed away April 25, 2004; three sisters, Irene Chamber Rushing, Ludell McAuley, Lalea Chandler; and a brother, Leroy Hall.

He is survived by two sons, Gary (Sherry) Hall, of Jackson, Tennessee, and Cameron (Terrie) Hall, M.D., of Germantown, Tennessee. He also leaves two grandchildren, Dena Hall (Eric) Clanin and Derek (Mary Elizabeth) Hall; and two great grandchildren, Megan Clanin and Mason Clanin. He is also survived by a special niece Joyce Adcox Hall, of Huntsville, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.

The family warmly extends special recognition to the staff of Harmony Hill Assisted Living in Huntingdon. Mr. John C. was a part of the Harmony Hill family for over nine years. Also, the family appreciates the wonderful care provided by Baptist Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Derek Hall, Jimmy Hampton, J. W. Hollowell, Jerry Morris, Jimmy Pinson, Charlie Powell, Howard Pruett, Randall Roark, and Eric Clanin. Honorary pallbearers are Lindy McGuire, Buster Norden, Ryan Hall, Billy Tines, Ronnie Rice, Billy Smith, Dr. Scott Portis, Dr. Paul Evans and Len O'Bryant.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4 PM till 8 PM at Dilday - Carter Funeral Home and on Sunday from 1 PM until time of services at the Huntingdon Church of Christ.
