Sidney Kirby

Funeral services for Sidney Kirby will be held at 10:30 P.M. Thursday August 24 2006 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern TN. Sidney passed away Monday August 21 2006 at his home. He was born in Carroll County TN on December 10 1925. Mr. Kirby was a graduate of Trimble High School and was a retired employee of National Life and Accident Insurance Company. During WWII he was a staff sergeant with the U. S. Army in Europe earning the combat infantryman's badge. Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his parents Seicle B. and Porter Gibbons of Dyer County; a brother Roy H. Kirby of Milan. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Bernice Kirby of Jackson; a son David Kirby of Scottsdale AZ; a grandson Jonathan Kirby of Scottsdale AZ; a step-brother George Gibbons of Memphis TN. His cousins from Carroll County will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. today at the funeral home. Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home 731-424-2424
