Terry Moore Obituary

Terry H. Moore

Terry H. Moore passed away at Jackson General Hospital on December 24, 2011. He was born in Selmer, TN on February 29, 1916.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Elizabeth McKennie Moore; his parents, Oma Robinson Sewell and Henry C. Moore both of Selmer. Others preceding him in death were his step father, W.E. Sewell; his brother, Vance Moore; his nephew, Joe Vance Moore all of Selmer.

Mr. Moore leaves behind his daughter, Beverly Moore Bailey of Jackson; three grandchildren, Dr. Terry V. Eagan of New York City, Lori (Joey) Key and Todd (Dawn) Casey all of Memphis, TN; two great grandchildren, Craig Ronowski and Mackenzie Key of Memphis; his sister-in-law, Wilma Moore; his niece, Terry (Bobby) Parry of Selmer.

Mr. Moore was a graduate of Selmer High School and West TN Business College. In his early life, he was the District Manager for Penick and Ford for 15 years. He resigned to form Acme Food Brokerage and Superior Sales which he managed for 30 years. During this time and until his death, he was a partner with Richard Swaim and now deceased J.T. Usrey in ASUM a land and property holding company.

During World War II, Terry served in the U.S. Army serving in three major battles including the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded three bronze stars for his participation in the European Theater. He was a member and supporter of West Jackson Baptist Church for 70 years. He was a life member of the VFW; St John's Lodge #332; member and past president of the Jackson Downtown Rotary; Paul Harris Fellow, helping with the founding of Youth Town; and a member of the Republican Senatorial Inner Circle. Terry was an avid sportsman and developer of timber land in McNairy County.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 11 a.m. until funeral service 1 p.m. at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home. Interment Ridgecrest Cemetery.
