Virgil Martin Obituary
Virgil Carroll Martin, age 66, was born in Little Rock, AR on March 3, 1945 to the late Virgil and Mary Elizabeth Martin.
He departed in Jackson, TN on August 10, 2011.
Mr. Martin was an avid member of the Jackson Exchange Club Carl Perkin's Center, working with the boxing program, and he worked the Circles of Hope Telethon every year. He loved being a football coach at Old Hickory Academy, now U.S.J., where he served as Head Football Coach, later he started the football program at West Carroll High School in Atwood, TN. He was a member of Love and Truth Church in Jackson.
Mr. Martin leaves his wife of 39 years, Shirley S. Martin of Jackson; daughter, Lesia (Tommy) Harper of Maury City; grandchildren, Tara (Brian) Ferguson of Martin, Tom Harper of Jackson; great-grandchild, Brian Kieth Ferguson; sister, Sueann (Bob) Liddington, Phoenix, AZ.
Medina Funeral Home will conduct a Celebration of Life service 7 p.m. Friday, August 12th at the Love and Truth Church. Family will receive friends Friday, 5-7 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

I knew Virgil Carroll from growing up together in Atkins, Arkansas. His sister SuAnn was one of my best friends. Their house was where all the kids wanted to gather. Their dear mother Mary, would load us up in her car and take us anywhere we wanted to go. My sincere sympathy to SuAnn and all Virgil's family.

I grew up neighbors with Virgil Carroll Martin and his wonderful family. He was always happy and wearing a smile. Anyone that knew Virgil Carroll was richly blessed. My sincere sympathy to SuAnn, Shirley, and the entire family.
