Cornelius Gilbert

Ms. Cornelius Gilbert of 4101 Herring Ave., Marianna, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Jackson Hospital. She was 91 years old. A native of Jackson County, she was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Bethel Star Missionary Baptist Church.
A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m., at the Bethel Star Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery, with arrangements entrusted to the caring staff of Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
Ms. Gilbert leaves a lifetime of love and precious memories with four daughters, Geraldine Porter of Tallahassee, Kathy Mae Rogers of Graceville, and Martha Fed and Erma Calhoun and husband, William, both of Marianna; four sons, the Rev. Leon Gilbert and wife, Ruby, of Tallahassee, James Rogers of Marianna, Moses Gilbert Spears of Ft. Lauderdale, and David Clemmons and wife, Ruth, of Chattahoochee; one sister, Fannie Cook of Jacksonville; and a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive friends at the Bethel Star Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, Sept. 19, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Ms. Gilbert will lie-in-repose for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
