SHEARER, Andrew Walker (Andy). On December 23 2014, at Hamilton, aged 89 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Rowena. Loved father and father in law of Michael and Margaret, Rosemary and David Stark, David and Susan. A much loved grandad and great grandad. A service for Andy will be held in the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, south end of Victoria Street, Hamilton, on Monday, 29 December at 2.00pm, followed by private cremation. Andy - teacher, inspiration and friend.
I Started learning from Andy when I was 11 and he opened up the world of popular music to me.
I think Andy was one of the finest pianists I ever heard.
I remember a series of broadcasts he did from the local radio station,IXH, always starting with the theme song, "Moonglow".
Later Andy was always encouraging and an inspiration when I started playing.

Andy my friend and colleague of 53 years. Ever the gentleman always the Musician. One of New Zealand's outstanding pianists. I was privileged to play with you for so many years.
