Craig Smith Obituary

Craig Smith

On September 5th, Craig Smith changed his residency to Heaven so he wouldn't have to make a decision in the next Presidential election. He lived on the beach in Destin, FL with his high school sweetheart and wife, Cathy Smith. He enjoyed fresh seafood and fishing with his grandson, Cooper. Their favorite way to spend the day was to get up early, catch a bunch of fish, then have grandma fry up dinner while they reminisced about the ones that got away. When they weren't fishing they were watching baseball and enjoying a friendly rivalry between the Marlins and Braves.

Craig was born on March 25, 1957, to Max and Patricia Smith of Lafayette, Indiana. After high school he served as an Army Paratrooper at Ft. Bragg. However, he always had an afinity for numbers, and this led to a successful career in banking and finance. His well known math skills led to many successful businesses and winning streaks of Blackjack. So much so, that the casinos may be relieved when they read this announcement. His current endeavor included the title Executive Director at the non-profit Neurocures. His passion for this position allowed him to help others while exploring his personal science and medical interests.

Craig will be missed by his son Matthew and his wife Michelle, located in Atlanta, Georgia. He will also be missed by his daughter, Dr Stephanie Smith, whom never had the right tools for the household job she asked him to do. His sidekick and favorite buddy, Cooper, will fondly remember their silly inside jokes. Craig's sister, Molly, and her husband Joel are currently in Minnesota and Craig was preceeded in death by his sister, Sherry.

Friends and family will have the opportunity to celebrate Craig's life and share fond memories on Saturday, September 24th, 2016. The service will be held at Camden United Methodist Church at 4pm, grave side service will be held immediately after at the Wise Cemetery. The family encourages guests to share their favorite joke that Craig told them, and yes, we know some of the jokes were ridiculous, we heard them too.

I did not know this gentleman, but what a wonderful obituary! He must have been a wonderful person. Condolences to all of his family, especially to his fishing companion, his grandson.
