Demetra Ann Kennedy, 76

Demetra Ann Kennedy age 76, of Lafayette, IN passed away on Monday November 10, 2014 at IU Health in Lafayette, IN. She was born on July 23, 1938 in Rensselaer, IN to Charles F. and Lesta Mable (Cain) Wagner both deceased.

She was a 1956 graduate of Rensselaer High School and earned her BA & Masters degree in education at Ball State University. She was a 1st grade teacher at Hershey Elementary School in Lafayette and taught in Tippecanoe County School Corp. for 26 years. She was meticulous in preparing for each school year and took pride in raising her children. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Demetra is survived by her loving children; Shana Kennedy, Brownsburg, IN; Kara (Steve) Couch, New Palestine, IN and Shawn Kennedy, West Lafayette, IN. Granddaughter, Chloe Couch, Sisters, Sharon Jenkins and Beverly (Walter) Scherb, both of Rensselaer, IN along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, son Kyle Timothy Kennedy who passed away November 28, 1972, brother Charles Wagner, Sr. and brother in law, Larry Jenkins.

Friends may call on Friday November 14, 2014 from 9-11 AM (CST) at Jackson Funeral Chapel, Rensselaer, IN with a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM (CST) at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Rensselaer, with Father Tim Alkire officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Rensselaer, IN.
