Doyle Geisler Obituary

Doyle E. Geisler, 78

Doyle E. Geisler, 78, of Burnettsville, died at 2:25pm, Saturday, March 16, 2013 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital, Monticello.

He was born November 22, 1934 in Carroll County to the late Vergil and Lucille (Hathaway) Geisler who survives in Monticello.

He married Dixie Musall on December 30, 1962 at the Idaville Church of God, and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Dixie survives in Burnettsville.

Doyle was a member of the Burnettsville Church of the Brethren. He taught Sunday school, was a deacon, and loved giving the children's message in his animated style. He was a sincere man who loved serving the Lord and helping others. He worked for RCA for over 20 years and retired from Indiana Packers in 2005 after 13 years of service. He was passionate about reading, gardening and lawn care. He was looking forward to spring so he could take care of his lawn. Mr. Geisler was very active in his church and with the Burnettsville community. He loved playing cards. Above all, he cherished his family and friends along with the time spent with them.

He is also survived by two daughters, Michelle (John) Blackburn of Delphi, Melody (Tony) Burns of Delphi; three sisters, Yvonne (Bobbie Joe) Maggart of Burnettsville, Judy (Gilbert) DeWitt of Logansport, Sally Martin of Rochester; two brothers, David Geisler of Logansport, Dick (Diane) Geisler of Logansport; eight grandchildren, Seth, Heidi, Alex (Hannah), Abbey, Clayton, Lydia, Ashley (Kyle) and Cameron; and one great-grandson, Zayne Isaac.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michal and Danney Geisler; sister, Cheryl Bernfield; and his son, Michael Geisler.

Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm, Wednesday, March 20 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, at the funeral home with Rev. David Nishiser of the Burnettsville Church of the Brethren officiating. Military rites will be rendered following the services at the funeral home.

In keeping with Doyle's wishes of being cremated, there will be no graveside services.

A luncheon will be provided at the Burnettsville Church of the Brethren beginning at noon Thursday for family and close friends.

Memorial donations may be given to the Burnettsville Church of the Brethren. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Aunt Dixie - I am so sorry to hear. As you know, we had some really good times with Uncle Doyle. I remember those Sundays at Grandma's when all of the adults would be inside playing cards/talking, Uncle Doyle would be outside playing with us. You are in Vivian's and my prayers.
