James Robert "Bob" Goad

90, of Franklin, passed away at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Franklin United Methodist Community.

He was born August 7, 1927 in Goodland, IN to the late Isaac Mathew and Ella (Dalton) Goad and was a 1945 graduate of Remington High School. He served in the US Navy on the USS Missouri in the Navigational Department until August of 1949.

His marriage was to Sue Ann Brooks on June 7, 1957 in Remington. She preceded him in death on July 16, 2001.

James was a member for over 50 years of both the Masonic Lodge of Remington and the American Legion- Dewey McGlynn Post 280 of Remington. He worked for Remington Farmers' Cooperative and Frick Farm Services and also served 8 years on the Remington Town Board.

He enjoyed visiting with friends and family and especially being a Green Bay Packers Fan.

Surviving are his children, Jay (Emily) Goad of Franklin, IN, and Ellen (Wayne) Williams of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Paul Mathew Goad of Franklin, IN, and Mallory Louise (Allen) Sewell of Killeen, TX; brother, Fred Goad (Molly Hassell) of Chesapeake, VA.

Preceding him in death with his parents and wife were brothers, Alva Goad and Albert (Mildred) Goad.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington. Rev. David Lee to officiate. A private family interment to follow at the Remington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the American Cancer Society, Remington Fountain Park, or the Tri-County Alumni Scholarship Fund of the White County Community Foundation.
