Kim Blanchar Obituary

Kim A. Replogle Blanchar

Kim A. Replogle Blanchar died peacefully at IU West Hospital, Avon, IN on April 16, 2020 at the age of 68. Kim was born May 18, 1951 to Beverly A. Birch Replogle and Robert L. Replogle in Lafayette, IN. Kim is survived by her mother Beverly Howard of Brownsburg, sister Tammy Bowman (Bruce) of GA, brother Tom Replogle (Sherri) of Danville, nephew Jonathan Bowman of SC, nieces Anna Bowman of CA and Hannah Replogle of Indpls, step-brothers Jeff Howard (DiAnn) of CO and Steve Howard (Deborah) of AR, and stepsister Debbie Braaksma (Jim) of Lafayette. She is preceded in death by her father Robert Replogle. She was married for 8 years to Tom Blanchar.

Kim graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette in 1969. She received her Bachelors Degree from IU-Bloomington and Masters from IUPUI. She taught French and Etymology for 27 years at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory HS in Indpls until her health prohibited her from continuing. She dearly loved teaching, her students, and faculty. She continued her education through travels to France and Canada.

Kim suffered from Multiple Sclerosis for most of her life. In spite of it, she lived life to the fullest enjoying family and friends. Kim was a generous and loyal person who loved life and people; she kept old friends from as far back as elementary school and thrived on making new friends. Kim greatly enjoyed attending the monthly Disability Fellowships at Connection Pointe Church in Brownsburg. Kim died from COVID-19 that she contracted at Brooke Knoll Village long-term care facility in Avon, IN where she had been a resident since Feb. 3, 2020. She fought until the very end, with her doctor saying that her strong spirit and strong mind were what kept her alive for so long.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 11:00am at the Rossville Cemetery 61 N. Delphi Road Rossville, IN 46065. Family and friends are welcome to attend; however six feet social distancing and masks are required. (Consider bringing an umbrella to protect against sun or rain.) Attendees may also remain in their cars to hear the service via a sound system if available. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to one of the following:

1) iPads for Hospitals GoFundMe set up by Anna Bowman www.gofundme.com/ipads-for-hospitals-during-coronavirus 2) your local Humane Society 3) Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory High School

The family would like to thank IU West Hospital staff for their kindness and dedication, the news media for their diligence in exposing nursing homes hiding their cases of the virus, and all of Kim's and family's friends for their generous support of many kinds.
