Luetta Johnston Obituary
Tucson, AZ - Luetta "Luty" Robertson Johnston, 93, formerly of Lafayette, IN; Winnetka, IL; Maui, HI; Atherton, CA; and Raleigh, NC; passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at her residence in Tucson, AZ.
She was born May 3, 1928, in Lafayette, IN to the late Charles and Lottie Coumbe Robertson.
Luty attended Jefferson High School in Lafayette and graduated from Abbot Academy in Andover, MA. She attended Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA, and graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN where she studied Spanish, writing, physics, and worked at the college radio station. Her first marriage was to Tor Kolflat from 1948 to 1978.
She met Mr. Harrison "Johnny" Johnston in Maui, HI, in 1992 and they married in the Princeton University Chapel in 1994. Mr. Johnston survives and is living in Tucson, AZ.
Luty was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, the Junior League, the Women's Athletic Club of Chicago, and Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, IL.
Luty was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed singing, traveling, and attending the Chicago Symphony Orchestra & Lyric Opera. Many of her happiest times were spent in Maui with her husband Johnny and her children.
Surviving are husband, Harrison "Johnny" Johnston of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Karen Dagmar Swift; daughter, Gail Kolflat (Stephen Warrenburg); son, Leif; grandson, Charles Swift; granddaughters, Lindsay and Terrill Warrenburg; grandsons, Matthew and Christopher; brother, Malcoumbe "Mal" C. (Rita) Robertson of Frankfort, IL; daughter-in-law, Cathy Kolflat (Kim).
Luty was preceded in death by her son Kim Kolflat.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM EDT, followed by a service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Officiating is Rev. Kurt Freeman. You can watch the service live stream by going to www.soller-baker.com
Interment is at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette IN, where Luty will be laid to rest next to her mother and father.
