M. Joyce Ramey Obituary
M. Joyce (Stallard) Ramey, 79, of Lafayette, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014 at St. Anthony Healthcare Center. Born, May 4, 1934 in Claymorgan (Wise County), Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Raleigh and Ruth (Gilliam) Stallard. Her marriage was on January 19, 1955 in Wise, VA to Coy Ramey and he preceded her in death on October 8, 2005. Joyce was a homemaker and at one time, she had worked as a housemother at Purdue University. Joyce enjoyed reading, sewing, playing bingo and cards, but more importantly, spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her eight children, Coy Ramey, Jr. (wife, Patricia) of Lafayette, Patricia "Susie" Crum (husband, Tom) of Lafayette, Theresa Pacheco of Nicholasville, KY, Jeffrey Ramey (wife, Kathy) of Lafayette, Tami Ramey of Lafayette, Paula Ramey (companion, Frank) of Concordia, MO, Lisa Birge (husband, Jason) of Lafayette, and Eddy Ramey of Lafayette, two brothers, Roger Stallard (companion, Mary Jane) and Doug Stallard (wife, Brenda), both of Wise, VA, 33 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Ramey, and four brothers.
Visitation one hour prior to the 1:00 p.m. service Tuesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating. Interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Joyce I just wanna tell u again how much i love you and how much you will be missed by all who knew you and love you. You was #1 in my book and I thank you for being the lady you was and helping me to understand life.
