Nancy Wert Obituary

Nancy J. Wert, 70

Nancy J. Wert, 70, of Idaville died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, Texas.

She was born in Lafayette on September 2, 1942 to the late Walter H. and Grace D. (Cornell) Mattix. She married Karl J. Wert in January of 1963. They were later divorced, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1994.

Nancy was a 1960 graduate of Idaville High School and earned an Associate Degree from Indiana Business College. She was employed as a bookkeeper. She attended the First Baptist Church in Monticello and was a member of Crystal Chapter #165 OES in Monticello.

She loved butterflies, being a "Winter Texan" and being outdoors. She also loved traveling, and in fact, had just gotten back from a cruise. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Above all, Nancy cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, Tim (Tami) Wert of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a daughter, Susie (Randy) Price of Monticello; three granddaughters, Danielle, Amanda, and Samantha Wert; and two grandsons, Jered and Ethan Price.

Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm, Friday, May 3, 2013 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home and also 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the Church. An Eastern Star service will be conducted Friday at 7:30pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30am, Saturday, at the First Baptist Church of Monticello with Rev. Ryan Bailey officiating.

Burial will follow at Idaville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to her grandchildren's Educational fund in care of Lakes Federal Credit Union.

Melody and I are at a loss on how to express our love of Nancy to you. She was a very special person in our lives. She was instrumental in bringing us to Mission, and provided us with a place to stay. She also introduced us to all the wonderful people there. Nancy was always doing something fun, whether it was going to DonWest, playing bingo at the clubhouse, or just going out to eat. Nothing got in the way of her social life, and she lived it to the fullest. We truly enjoyed Easter Sunday with Nancy. She went to church with us, and then we went to Luby's for lunch. What a wonderful memory to keep. I also have photos to share; one with Nancy and Melody after the women's luncheon at the clubhouse and by seeing Nancy you can tell the theme was hats. The other photo is of Nancy having fun at one of the entertainment programs held at the hall. She is an out-of-control groupie for "Elvis". Memories like this can never be bought, they can only be made. And we have those to keep us rich for a long time.
