Pam Mercer Obituary

Pam Mercer

Our beloved Pam Mercer, of Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly in her home Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

Pam was born on January 25, 1944 in Vincennes, IN. She was the daughter of the late Gordon & Anna Lee (Mayo) Wimberly.  She graduated from East Tipp High School in 1962.  She married her devoted husband Jerry M. Mercer June 29, 1985.

Pam worked for Purdue National Bank and Bank One for many years during the sixties, seventies and eighties and made lifelong friends that continued to meet and share lunch to this day.

Pam loved with all her heart.  Family and friends were her greatest joy.  She always had a story and smile to share that would brighten your day.  Her thoughtfulness, kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor will be dearly missed.  She cherished her grandchildren and especially looked forward to talking and visiting with them.  Pam was more than a wife, mother and grandmother - she was a best friend.  Her spirit will live on in so many ways and in so many memories.

Pam was a very creative and talented artist, which was reflected throughout her favorite hobbies - her beautiful paintings, crocheted gifts, and colorful gardens will be enjoyed by friends and family for many years to come.

Surviving with her husband are her two children, Brian Spitznagle (wife: Amy) of Battle Ground, and Tracy Thoren (husband: Dale) of Dousman, WI; three step-sons Brandon Mercer (wife: Bev), Errin Mercer, and Alex Mercer (wife: Donna), all of Lancaster, PA.; step-daughter Ruth Walgemuth (husband: Tom) of Lancaster, PA; and two brothers, Allen Wimberly (wife: Lynn) and Gregory Wimberly, both of Lafayette.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Krista, Katie, and Eric Thoren, Noah Martel, Jared Mercer, Alex Mercer Jr., Andrew Hill and Rick Hill.

Memorial visitation will be held from 2 pm until the time of the memorial service at 3 pm, Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Hippensteel Funeral Home.  Celebrant Amanda Atkins officiating.  In memory of Pam's mother memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or to the donor's favorite charity of choice.  Share memories and condolences at www.hippensteelfuneralservice.com.
