Sherry Holmes Obituary
Lafayette - Sherry Ann (Davidson) Holmes, 74, of Lafayette, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at IU Arnett Hospital.
She was born on September 14, 1946 in Lafayette, to the late Duane Davidson and Marjorie (Smith) Davidson. Sherry retired as a child support case worker for Tippecanoe County Prosecutors office after 21 years of service.
On July 2, 1967 she married James Holmes in Lafayette, IN and he survives.
Sherry enjoyed gardening, flowers, boating and raising her son. She also enjoyed traveling visiting 14 different countries and Hawaii 8 times. Sherry and James enjoyed spending Januarys in Long Boat Key, Florida.
Along with her husband, she is survived by one son, Jeffrey (Jennifer Holmes of Lafayette; two nieces, Jody Davidson Anthony (Rob) and Shelly Smith and nephew Jason Davidson (Shilo).
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jerry.
Visitation will be held from 10 am - 11 am Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Horn officiating. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be directed to Lamb of God Lutheran Church Building Fund, 3993 St Rd 38 East, Suite "F", Lafayette, IN 47905, or donations may be made online at www.lambofgodlafayette.com. Jim,
My heart sank when I read this news about Sherry. Such a difficult loss, I’m sure, for you and your son and family. Sherry was the sweetest and truly genuine person I’ve known. What wonderful memories of her as a coworker and friend when we visited when we were all in Germany.
