Sue Johnson, 76

Hoopeston - Sue Johnson, 76, of Hoopeston, died at 1:40 PM Wednesday, July 03, 2013 at the Heritage Health Care in Hoopeston.

Born October 12, 1936 at Danville, IL, she was the daughter of Arthur H. and Leona (Kruger) Murray. She married Rodney K. Johnson on August 5, 1977 at Hoopeston, IL. He preceded her in death on November 25, 2012.

Sue is survived by one daughter; Lisa (Jerry) Amore of Rossville, IN, one son; Billy (Becky) DeWitt of Brookston, IN, five grandchildren; Ian and Emma DeWitt, Matt, Alyssa and Evan Amore and two brothers; Art (Jocelyn) Murray of Inverness, IL and Mike (Susan) Murray of Olathe, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 infant sisters.

Sue had owned and operated the Jack & Jill Preschool for many years in Hoopeston. She had also worked at Yerglers Jewelry Store in Hoopeston and at one time she was also a Foster Mother, taking young children into her home. She also enjoyed knitting.

She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hoopeston.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 11:00 A.M. (Central Time) on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Brown-Alkire Funeral Home, 309 E. Washington St. in Hoopeston. Rev. Rick Branaman will officiate. Burial will be at the Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Lisa and Billy: Your mother was a beautiful person inside and out. I remember when she worshiped at Good Shepherd when Ray and I did and she played the organ for the services also. Please accept my sincere condolences at her going to be with the Lord. I will always remember her wonderful smile.
