I have not lived in the Lafayette area for 40 years but check the JC monthly to keep up on my old home town. I was surprised when I saw Bill's obituary and want to add my condolences and a memory him.
I had the privilege of working with Bill in my role as a VR counselor for several years before I left the area. As his record attests, he was excellent as a social worker, but what I always appreciated was his pleasant and personal manner when addressing issues that were all too often difficult.
I hadn't seen or heard from Bill in some time when in 2004 I was contracted by Indiana University to return to conduct workshops on job placement for adolescents with high risk behaviors. Bill contacted me before that trip that he would attend and could we meet. We had lunch together and caught up on former acquaintances and our history. I left that day thinking how fortunate I was to have worked with and known such a fine human being.
I and so very sorry for your loss and hope you will find solace in your own memories of this special man.
