Alice Shaffer Obituary
She was the daughter of the late Anthony Sushereba and Anna Kustala Sushereba born Friday, June 26, 1931, in Brookville, PA.
Alice was married to Robert Clair Shaffer who passed away in September of 2013 and were the owners of the Shaffer Greenhouse in Pansy for many years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brookville where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School and loved recording church and family history.
Alice loved her family and was an amazing cook, taking pride in hosting her family to Sunday dinners, loved the outdoors, gardening and mowing the lawn. In her spare times he was a skilled seamstress quilting and embroidering for her friends and family.
She is survived by three sons, Charles A. Shaffer (wife Judy) of Brookville, PA, William R. Shaffer (wife Laurie) of Tennessee, Jeff Shaffer (wife Marcy) of Virgina and a daughter, Beverly Jean Raybuck (husband John) of Pansy, PA; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren along with her brother, Donald Sushereba (wife Dorothy) of Corsica, PA and sister, Barbara Fitzsimons (husband Robert) of Lickingsville, PA.
Alice was one of 13 children, preceded in passing by her parents, her husband, sisters, Francis McDowell, Catherine Minich, Mary Ann Frye, Helen Castner, Millie Castner, and Nancy Miller; brothers, John, Paul, Tony, and Richard "Dick" Sushereba.
The family will welcome friends and family on Saturday, August 5 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Peterson Funeral Home 153 Jefferson St. Brookville, PA 15825 and a service to follow at noon at the funeral home with the Rev, David Blair presiding. Internment will take place in the Zion Cemetery, Beaver Twp., Jefferson Co., PA
In loving memory of Alice memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church – 101 East Main St. Brookville, PA 15825.
Arrangements are under the care of the Peterson Funeral Home of Brookville, PA.

May God bless you all in this very sad time. Aunt Alice was one of Dan's aunts that I knew the best. I stayed with her for Aunt Fran's funeral and Paul learned to milk cows and make butter with her. I remember her stewed venison being so good, she really was a good cook. Paul grew up going to reunions with his grandparents and getting to know Jean's girls. Keep your memories close and lean on the Lord
