Joan Wolfgong Obituary
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Wolfgong, her parents Wade and Evelyn VanSteenberg, her son Kevin Wolfgong, and her brother Larry VanSteenberg.
Joan is survived by her sister Kim Thomas (Rodney), and children Rhonda Rodak (Jay), Jeff Wolfgong (Tammy), and Keith Wolfgong (Cheri). She has grandchildren Matthew Rodak (Emiley), Nathan Rodak (Courtney), Jacob Wolfgong (Erin), Abby Pierron (Chad), Heidi Wolfgong, Aidan Wolfgong, Tanner Wolfgong, and Sawyer Wolfgong along with great-grandchildren Gemma, Mahlon, and Georgia Rodak, Hunter and Parker Rodak, and Brooks Wolfgong.
Joan and her husband Elmer lived in New Brighton (Beaver County) serving at the New Brighton Church of Christ for many years and reared their children there prior to moving Gibsonia. Joan was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and most recently a member of the North Hills Church of Christ in Pittsburgh where both her husband Elmer and son Kevin were ministers prior to their passing. She taught Bible classes for children up until the past two years when her health began to deteriorate. She previously cared for infants in the church daycare, was an in-home caregiver for seniors, and worked retail at the Brighton 5&10. She enjoyed reading, cruise vacations, and lighthouses. She will be most remembered for her Christian faith, her dedication to the church, and her love for her family.
Visitation will be held at the North Hills Church of Christ, 797 Thompson Run Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 on December 7, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 7:30. p.m. A short memorial service will be conducted at the church building beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial donations can be made to the North Hills Church of Christ.

Joan Wolfgong was a wonderful, Godly woman who never tired of helping and sharing. Her wisdom and humor have greatly impacted me. But mostly I will miss her gentle warmth and love. Her life & example radiated out from her, with ripples going out farther than we'll probably ever know. Now she's in the presence of God and Christ, and with Elmer & Kevin. And that is wonderful! Miss Joan, you are missed, Loved, and will be always fondly remembered. Our condolences to Jeff, Keith, Rhonda and all of her family. <3
