Kenneth Irwin Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" D. Irwin, 86, of Brookville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

Ken was born in Red Cliff on July 13, 1939, to the late Lawson D. and Sara B. (Hetrick) Irwin.

He attended East Forest High School in Marienville, and then served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1969, where he was stationed in Germany with the Tank Battalion.

Ken married his forever love, Barbara A. (Lachner) Irwin, on November 30, 1968, at the Gilfoyle Methodist Church in Marienville. She survives. Their faith and commitment to each other remained a constant source of strength for over 57 years.

Ken worked as a welder for Ti-Brook in Brookville for more than 25 years, before retiring in 2001. For several additional years, he cleaned and maintained the Rest Stop Areas.

For more than 50 years, Ken had been a dedicated member of the Sigel United Methodist Church in Sigel, and regularly attended church every Sunday.

Ken was an avid bowler and participated in a bowling league.

He also enjoyed playing his guitar and singing along.

He had a strong affection for the outdoors whether he was camping or fishing.

Faith and family stood at the very center of his life. A beloved husband and friend, Ken will be remembered for his warmth, gentle humor, and friendly nature. His kindness and steady presence will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

In addition to his wife Barbara, Ken is survived by one sister, Rosalie (Harold) Clemens of Sigel; brother-in-law, John W. Lachner of N.C.; three nephews, Steve Clemens of Brookville, Billy Lachner of Jamestown, N.Y., and Scott Matthew of Miss.; two nieces, Jennifer Pangallo of Reynoldsville and Tammy Lachner of Jamestown, N.Y.; four great-nephews; three great-nieces; and a cousin, Connie Bradley of Spartansburg.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by an infant brother, David; two nephews, James Clemens and Timothy Pangallo; brother-in-law, Thomas Lachner; and sister-in-law, Darlene Lachner.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Carrier Funeral Home, located at 2834 Maplevale Road in Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. immediately following the viewing, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Sheesley officiating.

Military honors will follow the service and will be conducted by the Brookville Honor Guard.

Interment will take place privately at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Eldred Township, Jefferson County.
