Wilma Steighner Obituary

Wilma M. Steighner, 89, of Brookville, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at her home following a period of declining health.

Born November 29, 1935 in Warsaw Township, she was the daughter of Scott and Mabel (Mathers) Smith.

In 1953 she married Elmer Irvine. He preceded her in death in 1970. She later married Ronald Steighner. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Prior to her retirement in 1998, she had worked as a cook at Laurel Haven Personal Care Home.

She was of Methodist faith.

Her pastimes included quilting, watching westerns and reading books.

Her survivors include her daughters, Elanor Nichols, Glendora (David) Lindemuth, Eva (Wayne) Geist, Mary Sarvey and Lorri (Rodney) Allshouse; 16 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to parents and husbands she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Irvine; her grandson, Michael Sarvey; and her sons-in-law, Gerald Nichols and Jack Sarvey.

There will be no services held.

Interment will be in Temple Cemetery.

The Furlong Funeral Home, located at 50 Broad Street in Summerville, is honored to be entrusted with the final arrangements for Mrs. Steighner.
