Barbara Mae Lawrence, 78, passed from this life on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Senior Suites of Urbandale. A memorial service will be held at St. Elizabeth of the Hill Country in Boone, North Carolina on November 4th, 2017 at 11 a.m.
Barbara was born November 8, 1938 in West Jefferson, NC to Fred and Edna (Waugh) Lawrence. She was a graduate of Mars Hill College and the Medical College of Virginia. Barbara worked as a Registered Nurse specializing in pediatric care. She cared deeply for all children, the natural world, and her community – exemplified by her Christlike service to others throughout her life. Barbara was an active member of St. Elizabeth's parish for over four decades.
She is remembered as an extremely loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend. Survivors include her sons: Christopher (Lisa) Marchese of Urbandale, IA; Matthew (Amanda) Marchese of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren: Pax & Noah Marchese and Jocelyn & Logan Marchese; sisters: Betty Pendergraft and Earlene Barker of West Jefferson, NC.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society (at memorial pages in her name).
