Mr. Richard Lowell Burchett of Asheboro died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 at the VA Medical Center Hospice House in Salisbury. He was 72.
Mr. Burchett was born Jan. 18, 1942 in Jefferson to William Everett and Ethel Harless Burchett. He was preceded in death by brother, Dane Allen Burchett. He served eight years in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Spain. He loved woodworking, fishing, the beach and coming to Ashe County to spend time with his parents.
Mr. Burchett is survived by his wife, Judy Carol Burchett; two daughters, Brenda Gale Everhart of Lexington and Teresa Lynn Goodman of West Jefferson; step-son, Ernie Lunsford, Jr. of Winston-Salem; parents, the Rev. Bill and Ethel Burchett; also surviving are two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Kevin York. Burial will follow in Friendly Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to VA Hospice House, 1601 Brenner Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144.
