Craig Fleener Obituary

SULLIVAN - Our very special Pa's (Craig Allen Fleener) went to Heaven at 2:03 p.m. December 1, 2010 after a long hard battle with cancer with such peace and a smile. He won the Battle! God took him to his heavenly home to get ready for Mam-ma when she goes home and he's going to be with his fishing buddies and his grandparents and fish and enjoy his people there till he welcomes us as we follow. Heaven will never be the same with his gang back together. Chuckle Chuckle. He and Mam-ma always said they weren't rich in money but they were very rich with family and friends. He retired from Catapillar after 40 years. A celebration of life will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010 at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery, Lovington. Memorials may be made to the care of the family. Family recommends blue jeans and casual attire. Pa's is survived by his parents, Wilbur and Genelle Fleener of Lovington and Don and Nora Newberry of Lovington; wife Arlene (Mam-ma): sons; Wes (Bridgett) Fleener of Arthur, and Heath (Marina) Fleener of Arthur; special grandson-son, Jacob Allen Fleener; brothers, Tilden (Pam) Fleener, Kim (Chris) Newberry: special sisters, Chris and special brother Dave; Tina (Mike) Hallford; special grandchildren, McKinzi "Peanut" Fleener, Shelbi "Angel Girl" Fleener, Alexis Arlene Fleener, Joshua Handschin, Kyle Handschin and Charly Mpundu; adopted grandchildren, Krista, Emily, Bill, and Future; special nieces and nephews. Pa's and Mam-ma had 3 favorite sayings 1. Live Love Laugh- The best things in life aren't things. 2. Yesterday is gone-Tomorrow may not be but we have today 3. Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming, "WOO HOO, what a ride!" There were a lot of highs and lows in their life of 41 special years, but they were always best friends and came through everything with their hand hugs and laughter and joy each day. We are so blessed! Thank you to everyone who touched our lives. Nite Nite sleep tite. I Love you always and forever. Pa's!! SMILE Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mcmullinyoung.com

Dearest Arlene,
We are so sorry for you and your family but at the same time we are pleased to know Craig will be spending Christmas with the Lord and singing Praises with the Angels this Christmas. Mom and I have been sick for about two weeks now and are so heart sick that we cannot come and be with you at this time, please forgive us but know that our thoughts, our prayers and our Love is with you and your family. God has blessed us more than we can understand when he brings home a child who has been suffering. We love you Barb and April

To the family of Craig Fleener. I,m very sorry to learn of the passing of Craig. I had the opportunity of working with Craig for a number of years at Caterpillar, in the inventory control department. He was a fine gentleman to work with and to know. Although I,ve been retired for a number of years I met Craig about a month ago at the Rural King store in Decatur,he was helping a volunteer group sell some tickets, he told me then that he had cancer.I told him then that I would include him in my prayers. One great thing I remember about Craig was that he had a great smile and I saw it many times while working with him. So very sorry for your loss. Blessing, Bill Dondeville

Arlene and the boys,
What a great guy. All the years I work with Craig, I remember how he often spoke of is family, he was so proud of them ...and he loved them dearly. The remarkable characteristic of Craig's I remember most was his patience. No matter what the circumstances...Craig was always calm a used good judgment. He never got upset or rattled.
His good friend.
