Daniel D. Patrick, of Mattoon, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the age of 94.
A funeral service in his honor will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, June 2, 2025, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Reverend Andrew Herzberg will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. Military Rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 4325. The visitation will be held the same day from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Daniel was born on September 24, 1930, in Mattoon, Illinois, to the late Marshall Leroy and Ethel Gertrude (Annin) Patrick. He married Beverly Jenelle Russell on February 3, 1959, in Champaign, IL; she preceded him in death on February 14, 1994. His beloved companion, Benetia A. Brady of thirty years preceded him in death on March 11, 2024. He was a devoted father to his five children: Cindy Brady Rondeau and her husband Patrick of Fishers, IN, Patricia B. Webb and her husband Steven of Rio Rancho, NM, Michael D. Patrick and his wife Teonna of Opp, AL, Sarah L. Radican of Boise, ID, and Deborah Jo Gustin of Mokena, IL. He was a proud brother to Marjorie Lynn of California. His legacy continues through his eleven grandchildren: Matthew Buesking and his wife Crystal of Rochester, MN, Krista Armstrong and her husband Marc of Carmel, IN, Kevin Webb of Rio Rancho, NM, Kathryn Webb and her wife Elizabeth of Albuquerque, NM, Ondrea Patrick of Machesney Park, IL, Laura Holt and her wife Taylor of Boise, ID, Shannon Fox of Pocatello, ID, Molly Radican of Boise, ID, Andrew Gustin, Christopher Gustin, and Peter Gustin. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel Richard Webb.
Daniel was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served his country during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he returned to his roots in Illinois and pursued higher education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL, which laid the foundation for his successful career as a Pharmaceutical Representative and District Sales Manager for Bristol Myers Squibb.
Daniel's commitment to his community was evident through his active membership in the Mattoon Exchange Club, the ROMEO Club, and for the many hours he selflessly volunteered at the Mattoon Community Food Center. He was a man who enjoyed staying informed and involved in current events and news. His passion for golfing was well-known, and he could often be found on the greens, perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow golfers.
One of Daniel's most treasured experiences was participating in the Honor Flight for Grand War Veterans, an event that reflected his deep patriotism and respect for his fellow servicemen and women.
Daniel's presence was a gift to all who knew him. His warm smile, wry sense of humor, generous spirit, and unwavering integrity will be deeply missed. His life was a testament to the values he held dear: family, service, and community. As we say goodbye to Daniel, we celebrate a life well-lived and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who loved him.
