Earl lived his professional life according to The Will of Mr. Valiant-For-Truth from "Bunyans" Pilgrims Progress: "My sword I give to him that will succeed me in my pilgrimage and my courage and skill to him that can get it. My works and scars I carry with me to be a witness for me that I have fought his battles who now will be my rewarder. So he passed over and all the trumpets sounded for him on the other side..."
No donations or flowers please. Earl was a very private individual, who simply requested that his friends, acquaintances, colleagues and students always attempt to show respect for their fellow man, in his memory. A memorial service was observed Sunday, August 19, 2007 in Phoenix.
