James Spraggins

YALE - James Marvin Spraggins, 68, of Yale died at 6:52 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 10, 2007) at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Burial will be in Yale Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. He was born Feb. 1, 1939, son of W.F. and Ruth Huddleston Spraggins. He married Barbara Blunk in 1963; she survives. Other survivors include his mother, Ruth of Newton; son, Gary Spraggins of Oblong; brother, Ronald Spraggins of Manitou Springs, Colo.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Spraggins was a farmer and oil producer. He was a member of the Jasper County Democrat Central Committee, served on the Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation Board, was Grandville Township Precinct Committeeman, member of the Midwest High Speed Rail Association, the National Association of Railroad Passengers, and 20th Century Railroad Club. He had served in the Illinois National Guard and in the Army. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
