Jerrold Scribner

1946 - 2025

Jerrold Richard (Dick) Scribner Age: 79 passed away on November 2, 2025, in his home at Cape Coral, Florida with his wife by his side. Dick was born October 10, 1946, in Charleston, IL. He was the sixth of seven children born to Richard and Virginia (Shoot) Scribner.

Survived by his wife, Kandy (Hobbs), of 36 years, daughters: Mary Scribner of Colorado, Laural Scribner of Oklahoma, son Cory Scribner of Florida, stepdaughter Jamie Henry of Colorado, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Joyce Wilson and Janet Bough of Charleston, IL, Jackie Butler of Mattoon, IL, and brother Jay Scribner of Branson, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry and James Scribner.

He graduated Charleston High School in 1964. Dick started his college education at Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, TN, in the Fall of 1964. He left college to serve as a Marine in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969 and was deployed from 1967 to 1969. After his deployment he returned to Charleston, IL to finish is BA while working as a police officer for the City of Charleston. Upon graduation, he went to work with the United States Air Force and moved to Fort Worth, TX in 1973 and graduated officer's school in April of that same year. He served as a weapons officer on a B-52. Captain Scribner was released from active duty in April 1977 and honorably discharged from the USAF in 1992. That same year he bought a franchise and moved to Peoria, IL. In Peoria he worked at Honeywell, Inc. from 1981 to 2000, the State of Illinois 2001 to 2002, and the USDA from 2002 to 2014 at which time he retired. He moved to Cape Coral, FL in 2017.
