Kathi Lynn Young

MATTOON - Kathi Lynn Young, age 66, of Mattoon, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital.
Memorial services honoring her life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Schilling Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
Kathi was born on October 5, 1957 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Janet (Crowder) Bathe and Harry Bathe. She married John David Young on September 3, 2004.
Survivors include her husband, John David Young of Mattoon, IL; children: Jennifer (Brad) Hughes of Mattoon, IL and Janet Mika of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren: Delainey Bryant, Maisy Hughes, Brooklynn McDowell and Eilley Hughes, all of Mattoon, IL; and siblings: Pamela Palmore of Mattoon, IL and Gary (Cindy) Robertson of Paris, IL.
Kathi was preceded in death by her parents.
Kathi retired from Life Links after 15 years to be a caregiver for her husband.
She loved her granddaughters so very much. Kathi took care of them all from birth until they started kindergarten. She was a very doting grandmother. She loved to send cards and pictures to family and friends. Kathi loved spending time with her family more than anything. She was a very generous and kind soul, and she will be greatly missed.
Memorial donations in her honor may be given to American Cancer Society or the Illinois State University Red Birds Softball Team.

Jennifer, I am so sorry to hear you have lost your mom. I enjoyed our visits in the kitchen at Courtyard. She was a kind soul and added a special touch to all she did. Blessings to you as you carry on in life sharing what was important to your Mom with others.
