Nolan E. Applegate

WILLOW HILL - Nolan E. Applegate, age 79, of Willow Hill, IL passed away at 4:00 pm on January 18th 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be Saturday January 22nd 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 11:00 am till services time on Saturday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery rural Oblong, IL. Nolan was born on August 10th 1931 in Olney, IL the son of Delbert Neal & Freda Mae (Deverick) Applegate. Nolan graduated from Newton High School in 1949. He married Virginia Pearl Cummins on November 18, 1950 in Newton, IL. Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, daughters Sheryl Lee husband Don Frederick of Willow Hill, Susan Rae husband Alan Finn of Greenup and Sara Ellen husband Jack Piercy of Mt. Vernon, IL. 4 step grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren. Nolan was a life long farmer and also worked at auctions as a sales clerk. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Memorials can be made to the Mound cemetery.
