Patsy Smith Obituary

ST. ELMO - Patsy Ann Smith, age 74, of St. Elmo died 11:59 p.m. Sunday May 10, 2009 at Friendship Manor of St. Elmo. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday May 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kessel Funeral Home St. Elmo, Il. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 a.m. until the service time. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to: Karen Rhodes-Evon Memorial Scholarship Fund C/O St. Elmo School District Office 1200 North Walnut Street St. Elmo, Illinois 62458. Online Condolences: www.KesselFH.com Pat was born on October 2, 1934 the daughter of: Cecil and Violet (Odle) Rhodes. She married Kaye Smith on November 24, 1955 in St. Elmo and he survives. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the St. Elmo Women's Civic Club. She retired in 2001, as the part-time secretary at Dr. Shah's Medical Offices in Effingham and St. Elmo. She was previously employed at the Illinois Secretary of States Office in Springfield, File Clerk at the Fayette County Clerk's Office in Vandalia, Secretary at the St. Elmo High School and Bookkeeper at the St. Elmo Unit Office of the Superintendent. She is survived by: Daughter: Patti (Husband: Randy) Hampsten of Greenup, Sister: Jan Luckert of Altamont, Brother: Ralph Odle of Colorado Springs, Co. Granddaughter: Sara Kaye Hampsten of Greenup. Also, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, sister: Karen Evon, brothers: Gene and Jackie Rhodes, brother-in-Laws: Ralph Luckert and Mick Evon, Sister-in-Law: Margie Odle.
