December 9, 1938 - November 26, 2024

Paul Albert Gentry, age 85, of Charleston, Ill., and formerly of Toledo, Ill., passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Arbor Rose of Charleston, Ill.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Meyer Funeral Home - Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Ill. Graveside military rites will follow in the Janesville Cemetery in Janesville, Ill. In loving memory of Paul, memorials may be made to the Jewett Community Church. Paul was born on December 9, 1938, in Cisco, Ill., the son of William Glenn and Verna Mabel (Kingery) Gentry. He married Barbara Jo Starwalt on July 12, 1958, at the Toledo Christian Church.

Paul served his country in the United States Marine Corps from June 11, 1957, until his honorable discharge on June 11, 1960.

Paul worked at USI in Tuscola for seven years. He then went to work for UPS for 10 years and later retired from Yellow Freight after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Jewett Community Church.

Paul enjoyed hunting, playing golf and spending time with family and friends. He and Barb enjoyed their winters in Arizona and California.

Paul is survived by:

Wife of 66 years, Barbara Gentry

Children: Dollinda Shawn Gentry, Martin Leonard (Tracy) Gentry, and Troy Lane Gentry

Grandchildren: Stevie (Will) Morrison, Christine Ozier, Caitlyn Ozier (Bill Snead), Brittni (Justin) Hankins, Heather Henderson, Blu Gentry, Jayd Gentry, and Grae Gentry

Great grandchildren: Bristin Hankins, Beau Hankins, Elijah Hankins, Henry Henderson, Asher Long, Owen Snead, and Nora Snead

Siblings: Virgil Gentry, Mildred "Millie" (Jim) Stewart, Dale (Frances) Gentry, and Linda (Mike) Schrock

Sister-in-law: Pat Gentry

Brothers-in-law: Lester Starwalt and David (Rosalyn) Starwalt

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ralph Gentry, Dorothy Hannah, Carl Gentry, Donald Gentry, Bobby Gentry, Alene Gutmann, and Shirley Easton Cisney.
