Paul Gowin Obituary

MATTOON - Paul R. Gowin, 90, of Mattoon, IL formerly of Ft. Wayne, IN and Mountain Home, AR, died at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2010 in Gowin Parc in Mattoon, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ste. Marie with the Reverend Father Al Kemme officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. till service time at the Church. Full military rites will be conducted by the Ste. Marie Veterans. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ste. Marie. He was born December 10, 1919 in Jasper Co., IL; the son of Thomas and Katherine (Yager) Gowin. He married Amelia Dorothy Frohning on September 10, 1946; she died May 23, 2003. Mr. Gowin was a heavy equipment supervisor. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mattoon. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and VFW. Survivors include several nieces and nephew including Dean Gowin and wife Brenda, Mattoon, IL and Robert Helregel, Ste. Marie, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and one sister. Online condolences may be left at www.summers-kistler.com.
