MATTOON - Randolph "Randy" Lee Adkins, age 81, of Mattoon, IL passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Il.
A funeral service in his honor will be held at noon, Friday, December 6, 2024 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Reverend Todd Krost will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow in Janesville Cemetery in Lerna, IL. The visitation will be held the same day from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Masonic Rites will be performed by Wabash Lodge #179 at 9:45 AM at the funeral home.
Randy was born on June 23,1943 in Mattoon, IL to the late Clarence I. and Geneva F. (Randolph) Adkins. He married Jill A. Bell on June 23, 1990, in Mattoon, IL. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2016. He is survived by his cousins: Debbie K. Kramer of Mattoon, IL, Daniel J. Icenogle and wife Janice of Mattoon, IL, and numerous other cousins.
Randy retired from Lenders Bagels, which is now Bimbo Bakeries USA in Mattoon, IL. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Mattoon, IL. Active in the community, he held memberships at the Mattoon Jaycees Club and was past senator, A.M. & F.M. Masons, the Corn Belt Shrine Club all of Mattoon, IL, Wabash Masonic Lodge 179 of Aetna, IL, and the Valley of Danville Masonic Center in Danville, IL, Coles County High 12 Club, and Coles County Low 12 Club of Coles County, IL. He was a past board member of Camp New Hope and was on the Lake Land College Alumni Board.
He had a love for dogs and especially his Schnauzers that he held dear to his heart. He was a man of integrity and faith. He will be greatly missed by his cousins and friends.
