Robert R. Appenzeller

SULLIVAN - Robert Ray Appenzeller, 76, of Sullivan, formerly of Minier, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2009) at his residence. The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Minier Christian Church with the Rev. Norv Condy officiating. Burial will be in the Oak View Cemetery in Armington. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola and one hour prior to the service at the church in Minier. He was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Armington, the son of Lawrence Ray and Leona Mae Beare Appenzeller. He married Alma Chupp in 1989; she survives. He was preceded in death by one sister. Mr. Appenzeller worked on the family farm, was a police officer for the Minier community, and later was a semi truck owner/operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 448. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
