Sue was born June 2, 1941, in Nunda, New York, a daughter of Lyman Chad Chadburn and Eona (Crevling) Broughton. She was first married to Carl Leathers for twenty-six years and they were blessed with four children. She later married Charles Michael "Mike" Wade on February 14, 1992. Survivors include her husband, Mike Wade of Mattoon; her three daughters, Lori VanVoorhis of Mattoon, Dena Burtcheard and fiancée Paul Cutright, both of Mattoon, and Carla Leathers of Windsor; six grandchildren, Courtney VanVoorhis, Tucker VanVoorhis, Nikki Leathers, Misty Dawn Benz-Bushling, Ashli Turner and Dalton Turner; one great-granddaughter, Ally Perkins; Sue was anxiously awaiting the birth of her second great-granddaughter, to be born this month. Also surviving are two brothers, Dick Broughton and wife Sue of Lake Helen, Florida and Chad Broughton of Deland, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and her sister, Bonnie Porter. Mrs. Wade was employed for one year at the Murdock, Illinois Coal Mine and retired from the General Electric Lamp Plant in Mattoon. Sue will be lovingly remembered for her generosity and kind spirit. She never met a stranger and others loved being in her presence as she truly loved life. She will also be remembered for the wonderful meals she prepared and the many big family gatherings she hosted and cooked for. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her honor may be made to Schilling Funeral Home to assist her family in paying for funeral expenses.

I am so sorry to hear of Sue's death.Sue and I were friends from the moment we met. I loved Sue for her kindness and her wonderful laughter. We lost touch but I always thought of her with her infectious laughter. A few years ago,I saw her at SBLHC and we caught up with our busy lives. Sue was so proud of her children and loved them so much. My prayers and thoughts are with her family. Sue was much loved and will be missed.

Sue's children,

Your mother and I go way back. We went to school together and spent many many hours together as MHS students. Sue and I were very good friends in scool and at G.E. I'm so terribly sorry for the loss of your mother. She was a kind heart and very loving person. As you say, she never met a stranger. May God look down upon all of you at this difficult time and bless you with his divine peace and love.

In Christ's love and ours
