Linda Kay Story Petitto

Linda Petitto was born January 17, 1946, in Johnson-City, Tennessee. Her parents were Irene Hale Story and Joseph Danny Story. Linda graduated from Science Hill High School in 1964, East Tennessee State University in 1968, and earned a Masters Degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1976.

Linda was a High School English teacher and guidance counselor in Nashville, Tennessee for fifteen years. In 1984, she made a career change and moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Linda worked for Hubbard Realty as a sales agent and then in the administration area until her retirement in 2013.

While at Hubbard Realty she met and married her devoted husband, John Petitto; they spent thirty-two wonderful years together. She was an active member of Messiah Moravian Church where she served on the church board, numerous committees, and in other functional roles over her thirty-five plus year membership.

Linda enjoyed reading, cooking, working in her beautiful yard, beach trips, her four fur-legged babies, and learning about her Scots Irish Ancestry.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her older brother, Dr. L. J. Story and her niece, Alicia S. Bailey. She is survived by her devoted husband, John; her sister, Janelle S. Frazier; her brother, Danny Story (Janie) of Johnson-City, Tennessee; sister­ in-law, Ranny L. Story; cousin, Jim Hale; and several very close nephews and nieces and their families, great nephews and great nieces, and many loving cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Messiah Moravian Church on September 10, 2025 at 2pm. Interment will take place at a later time.

The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. John and family are so grateful to Gentiva Hospice Staff for providing loving care to Linda and John.
