George Edings Obituary
George A Edings Jr (Butch) went to his heavenly home, Tuesday March 25, 2025. He was born April 23, 1948 at St Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, AR to George A Edings, and Pauline McElroy Edings of Joiner, AR. He graduated from Shawnee High School, and State College of Arkansas (now known as UCA.) He later moved to Mountain Home AR where he worked in banking, accounting for BassCat Boats, and owned Brandon Pallet Mill. At one time he worked at Architectural Concept Inc, in Jonesboro, and later became disabled due to his heart. He coached PeeWee Baseball, bass fished, deer hunted, gun and bow seasons, he did karate with his son Trey, and ended up raising and breeding horses on his horse farm before moving to Jonesboro AR in 2001, where he lived until his death. He loved to go back to Mountain Home and hunt and fish with his son Trey, his brother Jimmy, and his best friend Paul Morton.
In Jonesboro he supported his wife with her Mothers of Angels Organization, and helped her in every way, and assisted her in preparing and carrying out the annual Mothers of Angels Walk each year at Craighead Forest Park. He was a member of Nettleton Baptist Church since 2004, and at one time co-taught 2nd grade Sunday school with his wife.
George had a deep love for his family and a special love for his wife Dora, and was a wonderful Papaw to his grandchildren. He loved them all.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jimmy Edings, and his favorite aunt, Joy Crisp Coble.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dora Stem Edings; His son Trey Edings; His 2 stepsons Casey Caples (Jennifer); and Cody Caples; His sister Paula Craft; (John); His grandchildren Tanner, Ava Cate, Beckett, Olivia, Addisyn, and Collins, and the mother of Addisyn and Collins, Ashley Fletcher; His nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces. He is also survived by one special cousin, Scott Crisp (Jennifer).
There will be a Memorial Service Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Nettleton Baptist Church, visitation will be at 5PM, and the memorial service will begin at 6PM. Services will be conducted by Pastor Brady Canright, and Bro Stan Ballard.
There will be honorary guest from St Bernards Total Life, Paces program Employees who took such good care of him these past several years since his stroke, and the Home Health Tech (Tia Pruett) who came almost daily to help get his day started.
