Gordon McGhee Obituary

Gordon McGhee, 87, passed from this life on March 23, 2026. Born on October 24, 1938, he lived a long, full, and joy-filled life centered around the people and places he loved most.

Gordon loved his family deeply, and his grandchildren were truly his pride and joy. Nothing made him happier than spending time with them, cheering them on, and watching them grow. Family vacations were some of his favorite memories, especially the ones filled with laughter, adventure, and rollercoasters. He never hesitated to ride every coaster with his daughter, Ginna, those were moments he treasured.

Branson and Gatlinburg were two of his favorite destinations, places he returned to time and time again. He also cherished his trips to California to visit his brother, creating memories that stayed with him throughout his life.

Every Saturday, Gordon looked forward to going to the “Round-Up” to listen to Ginna sing. Hearing her voice brought him so much joy, and one of his favorite songs she performed was “Daddy’s Hands.” That song held a special meaning for both of them. When Ginna was just 13, during a family trip to Nashville, they passed a recording studio. Gordon told her she should record “Daddy’s Hands” so he could have it on tape, and that’s what she did. That was a moment that showed just how much he believed in her and how deeply he cherished their bond.

Gordon also loved Sunday family meals, a tradition that brought everyone together and filled his home with warmth and laughter.

His favorite hobby of all was working on and rebuilding cars. He had a true gift for it, one that earned him countless awards at car shows, where he won just about every time he entered. Camping was another passion he shared, especially with his wife Tellis. Together, they spent many trips exploring Petit Jean State Park and Mount Magazine State Park, two of their favorite places. After enjoying more than 30 years of retirement, Gordon filled his days with the things he loved most: camping, car shows, and, above all, time with his family.

Gordon is survived by his son, Tim McGhee of Central Oregon; his daughter, Ginna Foreman of Bay; four grandchildren: Summer Majors of Bella Vista, Mason Turman of Bay, Max McGhee of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Jace Foreman of Bay and one great grandson, Whitley.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Herman and Zella Lee McGhee; his wife, Tellis Annette McGhee and a son Byron McGhee.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Gregg Langford Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation beginning at 12 p.m. until service time.
