Jerita Mathes Obituary

Jerita "Sue" Mathes, 86, of Jonesboro, passed to her eternal home on October 6, 2025. She was born September 12, 1939. Sue, as she was known by, loved sitting on her porch swing watching the deer, cows, wild turkey, squirrels, birds and raccoons that graced her land. She loved reading and crossword puzzles. Sue was an avid cat lover and is truly missed by Puff, Frankie, Abby and Missy. 

Sue was retired from the Craighead County Courthouse where she worked in the tax assessors office and the circuit clerks office as a deputy clerk for more than 20 years. Sue was of the Baptist faith. 

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dennis Conrad Mathes, her parents, Mary Lee Conrad Harris, and Harry Raymond Harris. A sister Veva Joy Mansfield (Jerry ) A brother, Albert Knox Harris (Sally).

 Survived by daughters Bonnie Mathes Caffey (Alan) of The Colony, Tx. Connie Mathes Davidson (David) of Jonesboro, and Kelly Mathes Hiebert of Jonesboro, one son, Scott Mathes of Jonesboro. Sue had 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, with many nieces and nephews. Also survived by one brother, Richard M. Harris (Paula) of Conway, Ar.

 A private burial is planned and will be announced at a later date.
