Steve Don "Mad Dog" McBride died at his home in Paragould, AR on August 21, 2024, at the age of 74. Steve was born on June 26, 1950, in Dyersburg, TN. Steve graduated in 1968 from Paragould High School where he was proud to play football and basketball as a Bulldog. Steve was a proud veteran serving in ROTC as 2nd Lieutenant. He graduated from Arkansas State University in 1972 with a BA in Marketing. In his early career he worked as circulation manager at the Paragould Daily Press. Steve was self-employed as a bookkeeper at SDM Pawn until his death. Steve did not just love sports, he was obsessed with sports. He loved going to Disney World with his family and Las Vegas with his partner, Debbie, as well as his family and friends. "Mad Dog" will be missed but never forgotten.
Steve is survived by his two children, Stacey Don (Angie) McBride and Ragon Dawn McBride Weatherford; four grandchildren, Samuel Don "Sammy D" McBride, Simon Don McBride, Jon "Paulie" Weatherford, and Lucas Alton Weatherford; his Godson, Mike Bomar; former wife and mother of his children, Karen McBride; partner, Debbie Woodson; Debbie's children, Heath Baldwin, Amy Bayird, Chelsea Jackson, and all Debbie's grandchildren; two sisters, Robin Robinson and Nancy Bruce; four nieces, three nephews, and numerous beloved friends.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Don and Virginia McBride; two sisters, Donna Molten and Francis Hopkins; and two nephews, Tarver Bruce and Bobby Molten.
Steve's visitation will be held on Monday, August 26th from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Heath Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Linwood Cemetery following the visitation. Joe Robertson will be speaking at Steve's burial on behalf of Steve's family. Pallbearers include: Mike Bruce, Micah Bruce, Joe Robertson, Bill Duke, Gary Biggs, and Tommy Smalling. Honorary Pallbearers include The 1968 Paragould Bulldog graduating class.
